Abu Dhabi

Al Maryah Island

Located in the North Eastern region of Abu Dhabi, Al Maryah Island development is designed to represent an ideal model for urban living and sustainability and is part of Abu Dhabi Government’s long-term plans for the emirate. The development with a total area of 114 hectares, mainly being residential, provides the needed facilities for its residents such as cafes, restaurants, healthcare facilities, high-end retail and hospitality amenities.

Within the island lies ADGM Square, the heart of Abu Dhabi’s Central Business District, which is home to some of the emirate’s landmark towers.

Tabreed is the sole district cooling provider for Al Maryah Island and provides its services to Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, The Galleria, Rosewood Hotel and Abu Dhabi Global Markets Building.


Located on the Abu Dhabi Corniche, Nation Towers development, which is considered one of the most prominent landmarks on Abu Dhabi’s skyline. The development includes Nation Galleria Mall, Nation Towers Offices, Nation Towers Residences, Nation Riviera Beach Club and the St. Regis Abu Dhabi Hotel.

The district cooling plant will be owned by Prime District Cooling LLC (‘Prime’), a special purpose vehicle set up by Tabreed and ICT as JV partners to acquire the plant. Tabreed will own a 75% share in Prime with ICT holding the remaining 25% share of the JV. The acquisition has been mainly funded by an AED 80 million, 15 year non-recourse project finance loan from First Gulf Bank, Abu Dhabi.


Tabreed developed a plant to provide district cooling services to the university’s campus in Khalifa City. The modern infrastructure was installed across a 4 million square feet area. The new campus has a total capability of 10,000 students, and in addition to the university’s three existing colleges, it also plays host to the College of Engineering and the College of Media and Mass Communications.


Situated alongside 5.2 million square meters of natural beach front, Al Raha Beach development provides a unique lifestyle through its world-class residential, commercial, cultural, entertainment and public facilities.

Tabreed provides an energy efficient cooling solution to this development, with two plants  currently operational: the Al Raha Beach plant, which started operations in July 2010, and the Al Raha Gardens plant, which was completed in July 2008.  The Al Raha Gardens plant is also the first plant that operates under A&T - Tabreed’s joint venture with Aldar Properties.


Located in the heart of the Al Muroor area, the plant is one of Tabreed’s earliest projects., and started supplying chilled water to the Al Nahyan Camp and nearby buildings in November 2002. The plant expansions in 2005 and 2007 increased to serve the burgeoning demand of the neighborhood.

The plant provides chilled water to a variety of customers ranging from residential apartments, offices, schools, hotels, military, Al Jazeera Stadium and Al Mamoura buildings, the headquarters of Mubadala Development Company.


Located in the Al Bateen area, the Bainouna plant is currently serving many commercial, residential and governmental buildings in the heart of Abu Dhabi.


Tabreed offers district cooling solutions to The Central Market, which renews and revitalizes one of Abu Dhabi's most historic locations, and which has been a focus for the city's commercial life for decades.


Tabreed has two plants servicing the Khalidiya area: the first plant serves Khalidiya Mall, which is comprised of three floors and a semi-basement parking area, and the second plant, the Khalidiya Spinneys plant, serves other customers including SEBA Tower and Foresight Development & Project, as well as commercial and residential customers.

Al Maqtaa

The plant serves the iconic Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, in addition to the Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Fairmont Bab Al Bahr Abu Dhabi and the BMW showroom.


Marina Mall is a prestigious commercial center located in Abu Dhabi. After the success of the first phase of the project, the mall has expanded and signed up Tabreed to provide district cooling for the new expansion.


The Mohammed Bin Zayed plant started operations in November 2007. Located in Mohammed Bin Zayed City, the cooling facility currently serves Link Investment & Real Estate Development’s projects that include the Mezyad Mall and all other newly developed residential buildings.


Shams Abu Dhabi on Al Reem Island is a landmark development with a close proximity to the city center. The self-contained community will provide residents with a lush green island setting, featuring spectacular views of the Arabian Gulf and the city of Abu Dhabi. The district cooling plant in Shams Abu Dhabi was developed by a Tabreed and Sorouh joint venture.

Production of chilled water started in July 2010.


A highly innovative concept, Yas Island Development occupies a total land area of 2,500 hectares. The project consists of a mixed use development that is predominantly residential but also includes hotels, marinas, a world-class racing circuit, shopping centers and golf courses.

Tabreed is the sole district cooling provider for this development, which includes the F1 race track, golf courses, Yacht Club, and Ferrari World.

Chilled water feeding these facilities and attractions is produced at a plant which was constructed in time for the first-ever Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in October 2009.


Located near Zayed Sports City, the plant, which has the capacity to service additional customers, currently offers cooling services to a range of clients including Zayed Military Hospital, Imperial College London Diabetes Centre, Zayed Sports City, Al Noor Hospital, the General Pension and Social Security Authority, Abu Dhabi Retirement and Pension Fund, Zayed Higher Organization for Humanitarian Care, ADNEC, Al Bateen Air Base and Al Farida Investments Company.

Al Ain


Commissioned in 2001, the Al Jimi plant covers a 1,125 square meter area. Over the years, supply of chilled water increased and Tabreed now supplies cooling to Al Jimi Mall, Al Ain Vegetable and Fish Market, Celebration Hall, and the Municipality.


Tabreed provides cooling services to the UAE University’s campus in Al Ain, which consists of 290,000 square meters of educational buildings, recreational facilities and student residential accommodation. The plant started operations in April 2009, and is being expanded due to increasing demand.



The Dubai Metro is one of the biggest transportation projects in the Middle East and is the world’s longest unmanned metro system. Tabreed has entered into a strategic agreement with the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) to serve the Dubai Metro and auxiliary developments.

The Dubai Metro Red Line has a total length of 52 kilometers, 23 elevated stations, 2 depots and 4 underground stations. To meet the cooling demand of the Red Line, Tabreed constructed 6 plants and associated chilled water network.

Tabreed also provides cooling services to the project’s second phase - The Green Line, which officially opened on the 9th of September 2011. The Green Line spans 23 kilometers and has    18 stations, including 12 elevated and 6 underground.

Tabreed constructed 8 new plants to serve the Dubai Metro Green Line.


The largest integrated theme park destination in the region located on Sheik Zayed Rd, Opposite Palm Jebel Ali-Dubai, which resulted in the company reaching this significant milestone by delivering more than 30,000 Refrigeration Tons of cooling to the destination. Dubai Parks and Resorts will be home to four world-class theme parks: MOTIONGATE™ Dubai, LEGOLAND® Dubai, Bollywood Parks™ Dubai, and Six Flags Dubai which is expected to open in late 2019, as well as LEGOLAND® Water Park. The entire destination will be connected by Riverland™ Dubai, and guests can stay at the Lapita™ Hotel, a Polynesian themed family hotel part of the Marriott Autograph Collection.


The Sheikh Zayed Road project is one of the company’s earliest projects and which established Tabreed’s reputation as an important provider of cooling infrastructure for the nation. It is perhaps Tabreed’s best known project in Dubai given its close proximity to popular luxury hotels and shopping areas.

Located close to the Crowne Plaza Hotel, the plant serves many luxury hotels, residential apartments and office towers including the Shangri-La Hotel and Rotana Towers.

The high demand from numerous business centers, offices, schools, metro stations, luxury apartments, shops, galleries and unique attractions in the area necessitated the building of a second plant which is located on the other side of Sheikh Zayed Road.

Northern Emirates

Tabreed’s cooling plants in the Northern Emirates are currently located in Ajman, Fujairah and Ras Al Khaima.


Tabreed developed two plants to provide district cooling services to commercial and residential towers in Ajman.


Tabreed has developed a plant in Fujairah to serve a Government organization.


In the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, Tabreed provides cooling services to various developments including Manar Mall, Gulfar Towers, Naeem Mall & other prestigious towers.
