At Tabreed, we leave no stone unturned in our pursuit of efficiency. Aligned with national efficiency and sustainability targets, Tabreed has set its own targets to support energy consumption reduction and emission prevention, through innovative technology solutions and environmentally-friendly practices.
Thermal energy storage involves storing chilled water in large tanks which decreases total energy consumed at the plants. Tabreed uses thermal energy storage technology in the majority of its plants to help achieve larger savings in electricity consumption, which also reflects positively on plants' performance.
Tabreed is embracing renewables, utilising solar and geothermal energy in its daily operations, helping to decarbonise the cooling process. Our new G2COOL plant, in Masdar City, was designed, built, and commissioned in 2023, in partnership with ADNOC. It is powered by extremely hot water sourced thousands of metres underground, which goes through our absorption chillers to produce chilled water that is fed into our existing network, before being returned to source.
